King of Crabs

King of Crabs is a free-to-play multiplayer game built around a live-service seasonal model. Since its early access launch, the developer (Robot Squid) shipped content across five seasons: Season 1 (July 2021), Season 2 (October 2021), Season 3 (March 2022), Season 4 (August 2022), and Season 5 (September 2023). Each season brought a new crab species, new weapons, new game modes, a paid King Pass (battle pass), and 80 seasonal progression rewards. The game officially left Early Access on September 25, 2023, with Season 5 launching just five days prior. The most recent post on the Steam page dates to October 5, 2023 — but that post was an announcement for a playtest of a different Robot Squid game, Big Fat Battle, not a King of Crabs update. Since September 2023, there have been no new season announcements, patch notes, or any developer communications about King of Crabs. Given the live-service structure with paid seasonal content, the prolonged silence since October 2023 — now over 2.5 years — is a significant concern. No new season has been announced or launched, and Robot Squid appears to have shifted focus to their new title. Whether King of Crabs continues to receive seasons or has been quietly wound down has not been officially communicated.
