Evaluation

KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a remastered compilation of three previously released titles — it launched on Steam on June 13, 2024, as a complete, self-contained package. The store description and launch announcement make clear that all three experiences (Dream Drop Distance HD, χ Back Cover, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –) were included at launch with no additional content promised or hinted at beyond what shipped. Following launch, Square Enix issued a bug fix patch on August 26, 2024, addressing hardware-specific crashes. No DLC has been listed, no post-launch roadmap has been published, and no developer communications suggest further content is planned. The game was released as a finished remaster compilation and has received no signals of ongoing content development.
