FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the second entry in Square Enix's three-part FINAL FANTASY VII remake trilogy. It launched on Steam on January 23, 2025, bringing the PlayStation 5 version to PC with enhanced visuals, high frame rate support, and other technical improvements.
Since launch, Square Enix has issued a series of patches: Version 1.001 through 1.003 (January–March 2025) addressed stability and bug fixes, Version 1.004 (November 4, 2025) added DLSS Multi Frame Generation support, and Version 1.005 (June 3, 2026) introduced a Streamlined Progression accessibility feature and AMD FSR upscaling. These are all technical and quality-of-life updates rather than new story or gameplay content.
All six DLC items in the store listing are released, and they consist entirely of music products — the original soundtrack, orchestral and acoustic arrangement albums, and a live concert recording. No story expansions, gameplay DLC, or unreleased content is listed anywhere on the store.
On June 25, 2026, Square Enix announced FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION, the third and final game in the trilogy, targeting Spring 2027 (with a pre-purchase now open for an April 8, 2027 launch per a September 4, 2026 post). Importantly, REVELATION is a separate, standalone product — not additional content for REBIRTH. The announcement explicitly directs players to play REBIRTH as preparation for REVELATION, reinforcing that REBIRTH is a complete, finished chapter in the trilogy. Square Enix has made no announcements of story DLC or gameplay expansions for REBIRTH itself, and the game was designed and marketed as a self-contained entry.
