Evaluation
KoboldKare launched on December 15, 2022 and has received a consistent stream of updates ever since. The developer (solo indie dev Naelstrof) has been regularly shipping feature patches and bug fixes at a cadence of roughly every few weeks to a few months throughout 2023, 2024, and into late 2025.
Recent updates through late 2025 include a substantial overhaul of the modding system (November 1, 2025), UI refactoring, camera system improvements, security vulnerability patches, multiplayer fixes, and physics optimizations. The most recent patch was on November 29, 2025.
Two developer statements from late 2025 confirm ongoing intent: the November 1, 2025 patch notes explicitly state "My intention is to keep working at the online experience, there's still lots of work to do," and the October 13, 2025 hotfix notes say the developer is "in the middle of refactoring aspects of the game to be more maintainable" and "getting ready for bigger changes." Neither statement signals the end of development.
As of today, September 24, 2026, the last developer communication was November 29, 2025 — approximately ten months ago. This is somewhat beyond the typical patch interval seen in 2025 (patches were shipping roughly every few weeks during October–November 2025). However, the developer's own statements about ongoing refactoring and preparing for larger changes suggest a period of deeper internal work rather than a conclusion to development. No end-of-development announcement has been made.
The sole DLC is a soundtrack released on May 20, 2021 (before the game's launch), and there are no unreleased DLC items listed on the store.
