Evaluation

Layers of Fear 2 launched on May 28, 2019 as a complete, self-contained psychological horror experience. Post-launch, the developer issued two bug-fix patches in June 2019 and added a Safe Mode accessibility feature in September 2019. The only paid DLC — a standalone soundtrack — was released on April 13, 2020. No additional story or gameplay content was ever released or announced for Layers of Fear 2 itself. In June 2023, Bloober Team released a new game called Layers of Fear (2023), which is a separate product that reimagines and consolidates the entire franchise — including the full content of Layers of Fear 2 — rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5. This new release effectively serves as the definitive franchise package, with Layers of Fear 2's content now available as part of that broader collection. A free expansion chapter called "The Final Prologue" was added to the 2023 title in October 2023. Most recently, on February 14, 2026, Bloober Team announced a 10th anniversary showcase and revealed that a third mainline entry, Layers of Fear 3, is in development — but this is a new game, not additional content for Layers of Fear 2. Layers of Fear 2 itself shipped as a complete narrative experience with no ongoing content cycle. All of its content has long since been delivered, and the developer has made no announcements of any further additions to this specific title.

About this game

The acclaimed sequel that redefined the award-winning series. Climb aboard a mysterious ocean liner as you step into the shoes of an actor called to perform under strange circumstances by a director with unsettling intentions.

Echoes of past performances twist into distorted memories, props become threats, and the line between stage and self begins to collapse. With every step, you’re pushed to achieve the director’s cryptic demands – and answer the question of what you’re willing to sacrifice for the perfect role.

Created by the modern masters of horror at Bloober Team, Layers of Fear 2 is a feast of cinematic storytelling amidst shifting, nightmarish environments.

Game Features:

  • Story-driven Exploration – Explore the world around you in order to uncover your past and reveal the hidden reasons why you were chosen for this role.

  • Psychological Horror – Is this part of the film, or are your memories playing tricks on you? The world may change in an instant and only you can decide what's real and what's not.

  • Unique Ocean Liner Setting – As you descend into the depths of the ship, the scenes you shoot for the film grow ever more surreal, and ever more terrifying.

  • Classical Ominous Soundtrack – An original score composed by Arkadiusz Reikowski, conducted by George Strezov, and performed by the Sofia Session Orchestra.
