Evaluation

Layers of Fear VR launched on December 10, 2019 as a VR adaptation of the original 2016 Layers of Fear. In the months following launch, the developer shipped several patches — most notably Patch 1.7 (January 13, 2020), which added new headset support and achievements, and Patch 2.0 (March 30, 2020), which introduced gameplay improvements and enhanced scenes. There are no DLC listings, no season pass, and no unreleased content on the store page. The most recent developer communication directly related to this title was a 10th anniversary showcase post on February 14, 2026, which offered a discount on the game as part of a broader franchise celebration and teased a Layers of Fear 3 — but made no mention of new content coming to Layers of Fear VR itself. The post-launch activity for the VR title was limited to maintenance and polish patches in the first few months after release, with no sustained cadence of major content updates. The game was released as a self-contained VR adaptation with no announced expansions or future content at any point. Developer attention shifted to other projects (The Medium, Blair Witch VR) by mid-2020. The game is a complete, finished product.
