Legends of the Universe - StarCore

Legends of the Universe - StarCore launched on July 25, 2016 as a self-contained metroidvania action platformer. The game has no DLC and no post-launch content updates of its own — it shipped as a finished, standalone product. On January 26, 2019, the developer (LunarCore Games) posted an announcement stating they were going on indefinite hiatus and potentially retiring from game development entirely due to health and stress concerns. This was a significant signal that no further work on this game was coming. However, the developer later returned. In July 2021, they announced a full remake of StarCore, citing the game's 5th anniversary. That remake — titled StarCore Legacy — was released on April 24, 2023 as a separate product on Steam, built on a new engine. The existence of a remake underscores that the original game is considered a completed, legacy title rather than an actively developed one. Since the remake launched, the developer's news posts have focused entirely on other unrelated projects in their catalog (a Rock Paper Scissors roguelike in December 2025, and two new pro wrestling games in June 2026). None of these posts reference any plans to update the original StarCore. The original Legends of the Universe - StarCore is a complete, finished game. It launched as a full release, received no post-launch content cycle, and has since been effectively superseded by its own remake. No additional content has been announced or is expected for this title.
