Evaluation

Life Not Supported is a space-survival Early Access game from solo developer Sam (YETIBYTES) that launched on June 26, 2023. The game has received four major content updates since launch: the 0.4.3 biome and disaster update (September 21, 2023), the 0.5 Beta Belt update (November 6, 2023), the 0.5.1 one-year anniversary equipable upgrades update (June 26, 2024), and the 0.6 Gamma Belt update (March 3, 2025). These sit alongside numerous smaller feature patches and bug fixes, reflecting ongoing development. Development is clearly continuing. As recently as June 4, 2026, the developer shipped a feature patch (0.6.0.127) adding controller support and previewed the next patch focused on blueprint optimisation. On May 22, 2026, the developer posted a community feedback form explicitly to shape the content of the next major update, indicating it is in planning. The key context to be aware of: in the March 2025 major update post, the developer was candid that the game's sales had declined significantly and was no longer covering their living costs. They announced they would need to develop another game in parallel (DWARRF, a pinball roguelike). The developer was clear this does not mean abandoning Life Not Supported, and subsequent activity — including the June 2026 patch and the May 2026 community survey — confirms they are still engaged. However, the financial pressure and split focus between projects does introduce some uncertainty about the timeline for future content delivery. The gap between the 0.6 major update (March 2025) and the next major update (still in planning as of June 2026) is already over 15 months, which is notably longer than earlier update intervals. The game remains in Early Access with more content explicitly planned, driven by a developer who is still actively communicating and shipping updates.

About this game

Life Not Supported is a space-survival game set in orbit of a far away planet - a possible new location for civilisation. Disaster struck, of unknown origin, and you are the lone survivor tethered to what's left of your ship. Gather nearby debris and scramble together a new vessel with your trusty roll of duct tape, in an attempt to survive the harsh realities of space. Maybe then you'll live long enough to uncover the truth behind the ships malfunction...

Tether yourself in and float into the void to gather precious resources as they drift on by. Secure air tanks to your "ship" with tape in an attempt to navigate and find different and more useful objects.

Use what you have scavenged to cobble together platforms and walls to improve the size and function of your new home. It might not look like much, but a solid structure is the difference between living and dying out here.

Fill up your Spacesuit Ingestion Pipe (SIP) Container, melt ice to quench your thirst, and take up space-botany in an attempt to survive this inhospitable vacuum you now call home. Don't forget to keep an eye on your O2 supply, there should be some spare tanks around here somewhere...

Explore the various belts that orbit this strange planet, maybe you can piece together what happened to the ship and the crew...
