LIZARDS MUST DIE 2 launched on March 27, 2025 as a fully complete game with a main campaign, wave mode, and co-op for up to four players. The developer has continued delivering substantial free content updates since launch.
On July 31, 2025, a free update added a new wave mode map, leaderboards, and a new enemy type. On October 31, 2025, the "Yashurmore" update arrived as a free story expansion set in the Ural Mountains, along with a paid new playable character (George the Red Lizard). On August 27, 2026 — today — the developer released the "Slavs in America" update, a completely free new story mission continuing the main campaign, along with a console (PS and Xbox) release. The developer humorously branded this package the "LIZARDS MUST DIE FULL PACK FULL GOYDA TURBO COMPLETE EDITION," but this appears to be the studio's characteristically comedic branding for the console launch rather than a formal declaration that no further content will be released.
Between major content drops, the studio has also shipped bug fixes and feature patches (April 2025, February 2026). Posts from June 2026 focused on a separate new project called MeowFactory, but the studio has now returned to LIZARDS MUST DIE 2 with today's update. The developer has not stated that content development for the game is finished, and their track record demonstrates a sustained pattern of post-launch additions.
