Maniac launched on March 28, 2024. Shortly after launch, the developer published a roadmap on April 9, 2024 outlining two planned content updates. Both updates were delivered: the first (patch 0.9.18) added followers-in-cars and bug fixes in early April 2024, and the second major update on June 27, 2024 brought 57 Steam achievements, Steam Workshop integration, custom maps, new game modes (Score Attack, Hard Mode), and more — fulfilling everything in the roadmap. The June 27, 2024 post also marked the game's version as 1.0, indicating the developer considered it complete at that point. Since June 2024, developer communications on Maniac's own store page have shifted entirely to cross-promotion of the developer's next game, Jackal — announced in January 2025, demo released September 2025, and launched February 2026. There have been no further content updates, feature patches, or roadmap posts for Maniac itself after June 2024. The April 2024 roadmap stated future content beyond the two planned updates would depend on community feedback, but no subsequent commitments were made. All planned content has shipped, and the developer's attention has moved on to a new title.
