NIMRODS entered Steam Early Access on October 28, 2024, and remains firmly in active Early Access development as of June 2026. The developer (Fiveamp) has been extremely communicative throughout, with 89 news posts since launch including 8 major content updates and a steady stream of feature patches and developer status updates. The team has shipped a consistent series of major updates since launching: the Bzz Battle Update (July 23, 2025) added a new playable character, chassis, and abilities; the Prototype Reroll Update (August 26, 2025) added new guns and systems; the Bifurcation + Economy Update (September 30, 2025) overhauled currency and economy systems; and the Gunporium Update (October 15, 2025) added a new hub station. Most recently, on June 5, 2026, an Endless Mode Open Beta launched bringing a new biome (Violet Forest), a new character (Bubba), a major augment overhaul, and new guns. The developer has maintained a published roadmap (refreshed September 19, 2025) outlining remaining milestones on the path to v1.0, including Endless Mode and further content and balance work. Progress updates posted in November 2025, December 2025, and March 2026 show the team actively working through significant rebalancing challenges — particularly around late-game scaling — that are necessary prerequisites to a full release. The developers noted in their Early Access launch post that they anticipated approximately one year in Early Access, but given the scope of ongoing work, the full release timeline has extended beyond that initial estimate, with the team openly communicating about the reasons for the additional development time. The one released DLC is a Supporter Pack (cosmetic/support content, released September 30, 2025), which does not affect the game's content roadmap. The last meaningful developer communication was June 5, 2026 — just under two weeks ago — indicating very active ongoing development.
