Mechabellum

Mechabellum launched out of Early Access on September 26, 2024 and has maintained an exceptionally active development pace ever since. On September 21–22, 2026 — today — the developer shipped Mechabellum 2.0, described as "the largest update since launch" and equivalent to packing "an entirely new game" into one release. This update introduced the Star Expedition roguelite mode (playable solo or with a friend), the new Centurion unit, a Free Edition entry point for new players, and a brand-new monetization system called Battle Contracts. The Battle Contract system is the key signal here. Standard Battle Contracts are distributed to all players free of charge on a regular schedule, with the developer explicitly stating that "new rewards are added every few weeks." Elite Battle Contracts are purchasable and unlock cosmetics through play. The developer also relaunched seasonal ranked content as Season 9 with this update. This is a structured, ongoing content rotation system — the kind designed to run indefinitely — not a one-time content drop. The developer's own note in the 2.0 test server post (August 28, 2026) also signals continued development: they stated plans to port suitable Star Expedition content into Standard Versus in the future, and that save-mid-expedition and lobby spectating features are planned for future updates. The game's established major update cadence — six major content drops between December 2025 and September 2026 alone — reinforces that development shows no signs of winding down. All three skin pack DLCs on the store are released. The DLC list does not show any unreleased items, but the Battle Contract system represents an ongoing monetized content pipeline that supersedes this as the operative content model going forward.
