Evaluation

Merchant in Dungeon launched on September 22, 2024. In a developer post on December 31, 2024 [NEWS-1], HexGameStudio announced their initial three-month bug-fixing phase was complete and that they would be moving on to adding new content — explicitly naming voice acting as a starting point. They followed through: a March 14, 2025 update [NEWS-3] delivered expanded voiceovers, gameplay improvements, and announced a Nintendo Switch release. Updates continued through mid-2025, with a July 2, 2025 patch [NEWS-4] adding Korean, Russian, and French language support and a July 4, 2025 patch [NEWS-2] addressing translation bugs. The developer's last communication was on July 4, 2025. While there has been no communication since that date as of October 1, 2026 — roughly 15 months of silence — the overall update pattern since launch has been one of ongoing improvement rather than a concluded development cycle. The developer has never announced that development is finished or that no further content is planned. That said, the silence since July 4, 2025 is notable. However, the developer's established update frequency has never been at a fixed major-content cadence (only one major content drop was recorded — the launch itself), and the bulk of the post-launch activity has been feature patches and bug fixes. Given the developer's stated intent to continue adding content and no statement of conclusion, the game remains in active development, though the extended silence is worth noting.
