Metal Drift launched on October 22, 2009. The only substantive post-launch developer communication was a May 10, 2010 announcement seeking community map ideas, suggesting a new map was in development at that time. However, no map or any other content update was ever released following that announcement — the DLC list is empty and there are no major content posts across 18 scanned news items. The store description includes a line saying "18 Steam Achievements, with more coming soon," which was likely written at or shortly after launch in 2009, but no additional achievements or content materialized. The developer has been completely silent since May 2010 — over 16 years ago as of today. With no content ever shipped after launch, no unreleased DLC, and no developer communication in over a decade and a half, Metal Drift is a completed game that shipped as a finished product. The new map hinted at in 2010 was never delivered and the developer has long since stopped communicating about the game.

Metal Drift is a vehicular sport combat game set in a distant future. As the player, you command an agile, high powered hover tank in a futuristic sports arena. Core game play centers on intense tank-on-tank multiplayer team combat seen through an immersive, first person cockpit. Layered on this is a goal-oriented game type that allows for high level strategy and team dynamics. Players can level up to unlock new ranks, weapons, and upgrades.
Each weapon and upgrade is specifically designed and balanced to allow different styles of play. Pair up the Stealth upgrade and the Shock Cannon to uncloak behind an enemy player and unload a devastating blow before disappearing again. Or choose the Sensor upgrade to see where all the nearby players are, and the Temporal Cannon to shoot them through walls! There are 56 possible combinations – choose whichever suits your strategy.
