Evaluation

New Retro Arcade: Neon launched on August 1, 2016 and received a series of updates through early 2018. The developer shipped feature updates and bug fixes through December 2016 and into early 2017 (Oculus Touch support, LightGun support, Arcade Builder improvements), followed by a hotfix in January 2017 and another feature patch in February 2017. In December 2017, Digital Cybercherries posted an honest community update explaining that the team had shrunk, that both NRA:N and their other game HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed were competing for limited development time, and that work on NRA:N had slowed to "little bits here and there." They stated they had not abandoned the game and expected updates in 2018, but the language was cautious rather than concrete. A bug fix patch shipped on February 19, 2018, and a sale announcement on March 30, 2018 mentioned that "future plans for Neon are coming together smoothly and another update will be shipped in the near future." That March 30, 2018 post is the last developer communication on record. No updates of any kind have been posted since March 30, 2018 — a span of over eight years to today's date of June 27, 2026. The store description still contains the line "We are actively developing the game," but this appears to be legacy copy that was never updated. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no announced roadmap items, and no subsequent developer communications that reaffirm any development intent. The single DLC (the original soundtrack) shipped on launch day. Given the complete absence of developer activity since March 2018, the game is effectively complete with no further content forthcoming.
Evidence
Developer posted a candid community update explaining team restructuring, funding constraints, and split focus between NRA:N and HYPERCHARGE: Unboxed. Stated the game had not been abandoned but acknowledged development had slowed significantly, with only 'little bits here and there' being done on NRA:N.
