Evaluation
Milling Machine Simulator launched on February 22, 2022 and has been in sustained, active development ever since. The developer has shipped three paid DLC expansions: the Lathe Machine DLC (February 23, 2024), the CNC Milling Machine DLC (September 19, 2025), and the CNC Lathe Machine DLC (March 3, 2026). Alongside those major releases, the game has received a continuous stream of feature-rich updates.
In 2026 alone, the developer has been particularly active: a major dark UI overhaul and new tools (Update 1.69, May 29, 2026), a hotfix with a note that "we're actively working on a big new update packed with improvements and brand-new features" (Update 1.70, June 25, 2026), a new cinematic camera and first-person mode (Update 1.71, July 3, 2026), G-code macro support and a brand-new code editor (Update 1.72, July 20, 2026), and finally a new meshing algorithm for sharper machined edges (Update 1.73, August 15, 2026). The developer also revealed a working prototype of a dedicated physical hardware controller on June 25, 2026, with plans to expand support to other machines.
The most recent developer communication is the August 15, 2026 patch, which is just 18 days before today. The update cadence is exceptionally consistent, with major feature patches arriving every few weeks and the developer showing no indication of winding down. No announcement of final content or development completion has been made.
Evidence
Update 1.73 shipped on August 15, 2026, introducing a new meshing algorithm for sharper machined edges, coolant physics improvements, and a range of CNC fixes — the most recent developer communication.
Developer states they are 'actively working on a big new update packed with improvements and brand-new features' in the Update 1.70 hotfix post.
