Evaluation

Mirror Layers launched on October 29, 2021 as a first-person social horror game. In the weeks following launch, the developer shipped a series of bug fix and feature patches in quick succession (through November 2021). In January 2023, Patch 1.0.9 added full Steam Deck support and gamepad improvements — and notably closed with the line "Stay tuned, we are working on an extra enigma," suggesting additional content was in the works. The most recent developer communication was Update 1.1.3 on January 17, 2026, which delivered a new Story Mode, localization expansions, difficulty rebalancing, visual overhaul, and accessibility improvements. This appears to be the content that the "extra enigma" teaser was pointing toward, now fulfilled. Across the game's full post-launch history, there has been only one major content drop (the January 2026 update), with no roadmap, no unreleased DLC on the store, and no developer statement promising further content. The developer has made no communication since January 17, 2026 — now approximately five months ago — and has not indicated any plans for future updates. Given the small indie studio, the modest update history, and the absence of any announced upcoming content, Mirror Layers appears to have reached its completed state with the January 2026 update.
Evidence
Update 1.1.3 adds a new Story Mode, French and German localization, difficulty rebalance, visual overhaul, and accessibility improvements. This is the most recent developer communication.

About this game

Mirror Layers is a first person social horror game.

Explore the mysterious apartment 12, cooperate with other players to solve challenging puzzles and survive the horrors of the Mirror, a distorted reality tainted by tragedy.

To proceed in Mirror Layers it's necessary to interact with other players through a social network called Propaganda. Here you will be able to share advice, opinions and especially items with other people. The game also provides tools with which you can take notes and pictures; remember, "sharing" is caring!

Propaganda web/android app is now available! Cooperate with other players while you're away from MirrorOS!

The focus of the game is to solve increasingly varied and complex puzzles, exploring the environment, collecting clues, important objects and collaborating through Propaganda.

But beware, once you're through the Mirror's threshold you will not be safe anymore...

The reality behind the Mirror has more than one way to put you in danger. A creature lies within the Mirror, one moved only by its instinct to search for something... A part of you, maybe?

There's more: negative emotions permeates this place, phantoms of a dark past that will torment you.

In Mirror Layers the player acts as themselves.

You received an anonymous invitation to Apartment 12 of Chandran Building, a bizarre 16 stories tall apartment complex whose walls hold a dark secret.
