Evaluation
Momodora: Moonlit Farewell launched on January 11, 2024 as the self-described "concluding story" and final installment in the Momodora series. The developer, rdein, explicitly described it as a game intended to "close the book" on the series' mysteries. The game shipped as a complete product at launch.
After release, the developer delivered one meaningful content update: Version 1.1 on March 14, 2024, which added a new post-credits boss battle, a full boss rush mode ("Wanderlust"), expanded fishing content, new dialogue scenes, and additional inventory items. This appears to be the only major content update released for the game.
Subsequent updates — Ver. 1.1f32 (July 28, 2024) and Ver. 1.1f33 (February 3, 2025) — were maintenance patches addressing visual glitches, balance tweaks, and localization fixes, with no new gameplay content added.
On February 6, 2025, the game launched on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, bringing the title to console audiences. On June 11, 2025, a promotional bundle with Death's Gambit: Afterlife was released, but this is a commercial packaging arrangement rather than new game content.
The only DLC listed on the store is the Official Soundtrack, which released alongside the game on January 11, 2024. No unreleased DLC exists, and no future content has been announced by the developer. The developer has made no statements indicating ongoing content plans. Given that the game was described as a series conclusion from the outset, that only one major content drop was delivered post-launch, and that developer communications have shifted entirely to maintenance and platform releases rather than new content, the game appears to be content-complete as of the Ver. 1.1 update on March 14, 2024.
Evidence
Version 1.1 update shipped, adding a new post-credits boss, a full boss rush mode, expanded fishing content, new dialogue, and additional items. This is the only major post-launch content update.
Developer rdein describes Moonlit Farewell as 'a concluding story' intended to 'close the book on many of the past games' mysteries and questions,' framing it as the definitive end of the Momodora series.

Once the toll of an ominous bell is heard, the village is soon threatened by a demon invasion.
The village's matriarch sends Momo Reinol, their most capable priestess, to investigate the bell and find the bellringer responsible for summoning demons. It is their hope that by finding the culprit, they will also be able to secure the village's safety, and most importantly, the sacred Lun Tree's, a source of life and healing for Koho...
This is rdein, creator of the Momodora series. Recently my team and I have announced the latest installment in the series, “Moonlit Farewell”. This is a concluding story, following through from the events of Momodora 3. With this new tale, I also intend to close the book on many of the past games’ mysteries and questions.
I’m aware that many players are more familiar with the story of Kaho, which is set in a distant past. As such, I’m designing “Moonlit Farewell” to be as enjoyable as possible without prior knowledge of Momodora 1 to 3’s stories. Moreover, the series has always been focused on action and minimal stories. So please, don’t worry too much about “catching up”!
Lastly, we hope to bring you our best game with this new title, using all the knowledge we’ve learned in the past 10 years. Please look forward to it!
