Montabi launched on August 6, 2026 as a complete 1.0 release with 570+ cards, 22 starter Montabi, 3 Trainers, and 3 city areas. The developer has been highly active since launch, shipping patches versions 1.0.1 through 1.0.6 covering bug fixes, balance adjustments, quality-of-life improvements, and Steam Deck verification. Most importantly, the developer's September 17, 2026 post-launch update explicitly announced that a new Montabi is in active development and will be delivered as a free update: "We're also working on a new Montabi that we plan to release as part of a free update!" The post also announced plans to continue building the Montabi Universe, starting with the spinoff desktop companion "Working With Montabi," and described ambitions for further crossovers and experiences. The September 7, 2026 spinoff announcement similarly stated "while we continue to support Montabi with new updates," reinforcing that ongoing content for the main game is planned.
