Mortgage Nightmares is a serialized slice-of-life visual novel currently in Early Access. The developer, Real life Games, launched the first episode on August 30, 2024, and quickly announced plans to substantially rework it. On September 6, 2024, they detailed an ambitious update to Episode 1 — a completely rewritten storyline, new characters, new music, voice acting, achievements, and cloud saves — originally targeting late October or early November 2024. A follow-up Q&A devlog on October 15, 2024 acknowledged that real-life commitments (school and work) had slowed progress, pushing the update to late November–mid-December 2024. The developer also confirmed the game is planned to run for 4 to 5 episodes total, with achievements added per episode. No post since October 15, 2024 has confirmed the update was released or provided any new status. As of June 20, 2026, the studio has been silent for over 19 months, well past the revised delivery window. The announced content remains unconfirmed as shipped, and the broader episode roadmap is unaddressed. This combination — outstanding commitments and extended developer silence with no explanation — means the game's path forward is currently unclear.
