Evaluation
Motherless - Season 1 launched on September 1, 2022 as a free-to-play visual novel. The core story across Seasons 1, 2, and 3 concluded with the Season 3 Final Episode on January 28, 2024. Since then, the developer has continued releasing substantial new content in two separate series.
The "What If?" spin-off DLCs — alternate storylines exploring different character relationships — have now been completed as a trilogy: Anamarija (November 2, 2023), Valerie (September 4, 2024), and Gissell (July 29, 2026). A bundle for all three was announced on August 5, 2026, suggesting the trilogy is now finished.
The Vacation Special spin-off series, however, remains ongoing. The developer announced it as a 3-episode series. Episode 1 shipped on May 26, 2025, and Episode 2 (first half only) launched on March 24, 2026 — with the post itself noting "the real adventure is only beginning." This means the second half of Episode 2 and the complete Episode 3 are still to come.
The developer has been actively communicating and shipping content as recently as August 5, 2026, including a bug fix post on August 3, 2026 confirming they resolved an access issue with the Gissell DLC. The studio is clearly active and continuing to deliver content.
Evidence
'What If? - Gissell DLC' launched, completing the three-part What If? spin-off series.
