Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord launched out of Early Access on October 25, 2022. TaleWorlds Entertainment has since maintained a sustained and accelerating post-launch development cadence, most recently centered on the War Sails naval expansion. War Sails released on November 26, 2025, adding full naval warfare, a new Nord faction, 20 ship types, a naval storyline questline, and a dramatically expanded map. Since that launch, TaleWorlds has continued shipping significant updates to War Sails: a major content patch on May 21, 2026 introduced Seaborne Village Raids, naval campaign balance overhauls, new ships and armor, reworked diplomacy and army AI, and more. The War Sails Modding Kit followed on August 10, 2026 alongside patch WS v1.2.8. On the same day (August 14, 2026 — today), TaleWorlds announced the War Sails Modding Competition, running from August 14 through November 22, 2026, with over €30,000 in prizes. Winners will be announced in January 2027, and submitted ships and raid scenes will be released as open-source resources to enrich future War Sails mods. This demonstrates the studio's active engagement with the game's community and ecosystem through at least early 2027. The April 9, 2026 developer update explicitly stated that future content patches are planned for War Sails and that TaleWorlds is also "pursuing a number of ideas for new base game features" — though they stopped short of announcing specific new content at that time. All currently listed DLC is released, but given the active patch cadence (major updates approximately every 2–3 months since War Sails launched) and the developer's own statements about ongoing work, the game is clearly in a period of continued active development.
