Evaluation
Movie Night has been in Early Access since January 27, 2022, and has never reached a 1.0 release. The developer, LimeLab Studios (a solo developer balancing project work), has shipped a consistent run of updates: 0.3 (June 2022), 0.4 (August 2022), 0.6 (January 2023), 0.7 (April 2023), 0.8 (November 2023), 0.85 (August 2024), 0.87 (December 2024), and 0.9 (May 31, 2025). Historically, updates have arrived every 3–8 months.
In November 2023, the developer stated the game was "getting close to a 1.0 release" and that once 1.0 ships, no further content would be added — though servers would stay online. Development has continued since that statement, with the most recent update (0.9, May 31, 2025) adding Linux support and explicitly promising Steam Deck support "coming soon."
That Steam Deck commitment represents outstanding undelivered content. However, the last developer communication was on May 31, 2025 — over 16 months ago as of October 1, 2026. This silence significantly exceeds the historical update cadence, and no follow-up post, patch, or announcement has appeared since. The game has not reached 1.0, and the promised Steam Deck work has not been confirmed as shipped or cancelled. This combination of an unfulfilled promise and extended developer silence raises genuine uncertainty about whether development is continuing as planned.
Evidence
Update 0.9 adds Linux support and explicitly states Steam Deck support is 'coming soon' — the last developer communication on record.
Developer states the game is 'getting close to a 1.0 release' and that after 1.0, no further support will be provided, though game servers will stay online.
