Mycelium: The Silent Contract is a co-op extraction horror game developed solo by Lex (Po Kolu) and published by Proteus Interactive. It entered Steam Early Access on April 27, 2026, with the developer explicitly stating at launch that the game would receive frequent updates over the course of Early Access — including new environments, entities, points of interest, puzzles, and narrative elements. Since the previous evaluation on July 2, 2026, the game has continued its rapid update cadence. Major Update #2 shipped on July 31, 2026 with full controller support, player progression reworks, new achievements, and cosmetics. The developer also noted in that post that further reworks (player levels, tokens, a prestige system) are still planned for future updates. Major Update #3 arrived on August 19, 2026 with a new location, new lore, new mechanics, and a new achievement. The developer stated in that post that "much more to come in the next few months." Additional bug fix patches landed on August 20, August 23, and August 31, 2026 — the most recent developer communication being just one day before today's assessment date. The overall picture is of a highly active solo developer consistently delivering on their stated Early Access roadmap, communicating openly with their community, and explicitly signaling that substantial content additions are still ahead. There are no signs of development distress or slowdown.

MYCELIUM

There is no life after death but there's always more work to do. Having signed a contract in exchange for a successful life, now that it has ended, you are obliged to perform tasks for a company called Mycelium.

YOU ARRIVE

Each mission you arrive at a dark and motionless forest where silence is your best friend. It will never be the same, so you'll have to find your bearings over and over again. Don't get lost - or you might never come back.

YOU GATHER

Look for mycelium as that's what you need to complete the contract and free your soul. Buy equipment the company provides and find valuables to get more time in the future missions. The more time you get, the more mysteries you'll face and can solve.

YOU EXTRACT

Use the mycelium you've got to extract from the mission. But hurry up - you can't stay in the forest forever. The longer you stay, the more dangerous it becomes, as there is always someone or something that wants your mycelium more than you do.

YOU IMPROVE

Each successful mission will let you get more advanced equipment and more time to uncover the mysteries of the forest. Use that wisely, as it will not be getting easier.
