Evaluation

NationWar: Annals launched as a free-to-play game in April 2021. On November 26, 2024, the developer posted a formal statement [NEWS-2] affirming their commitment to long-term maintenance and updates, while announcing a shift to a paid model to fund continued development. This was followed by several patches in late 2024 (versions 1.1, 1.2, 1.5) and a major version 2.0 update on March 2, 2025 that delivered a comprehensive UI overhaul across the main interface, battlefield, and all strategy screens. The version 2.0 post also mentioned that terrain beautification work was still ongoing at the time of that update. However, as of today (October 1, 2026), the last developer communication of any kind was the version 2.0 post on March 2, 2025 — over 18 months ago. Looking at the update pattern since the November 2024 recommitment: patches arrived in late November and December 2024, followed by the major 2.0 update in March 2025. That gives a rough cadence of roughly 1–3 months between updates during the active period. Silence of 18+ months vastly exceeds even the most generous interpretation of that cadence window (well beyond 6 months with no communication whatsoever). No specific future content has been announced or listed as unreleased. The developer's November 2024 statement expressed intent to continue updates but named no specific upcoming content. The version 2.0 post mentioned terrain work in progress, but that was a passing note within the March 2025 update — there has been no subsequent post confirming, delivering, or expanding on that work. The silence since March 2025 is consistent with development having wound down after the 2.0 milestone. Given the absence of any announced upcoming content, no unreleased DLC, and a silence period far exceeding the established update pattern, the game is assessed as complete as of the March 2, 2025 major update.
Evidence
Major version 2.0 update shipped: comprehensive UI overhaul across main interface, battlefield, and all strategy screens. Terrain beautification mentioned as still in progress at time of writing. This is the last developer communication on record.
