Evaluation
Necromancer Returns launched on February 1, 2018 as a complete turn-based strategy game. Over the following years, Greenolor Studio delivered a steady stream of patches and quality-of-life improvements — overhauling the UI in January 2019, adding voice acting in August 2018, updating the engine in September 2019, and adding an easter egg character in June 2020. The most recent developer communication is a bug fix patch from April 2, 2024 that added Traditional Chinese language support. Since then — over two years as of today — there has been no further activity from the developer.
The game has only one DLC, a Soundtrack + Concept Art pack that released the day after launch in February 2018. No additional DLC has been announced or listed. The developer has never posted a roadmap, promised future content, or indicated that major expansions were planned. The post-launch update history consists almost entirely of bug fixes and feature patches rather than substantial new content releases — there is only one post tagged as major content across 49 total news posts. The updates that did ship have tapered off, with no posts at all since April 2024.
The picture that emerges is of a game that launched as a finished product, received maintenance and polish updates for several years, and has since gone quiet. There are no outstanding commitments, no unreleased DLC, and no developer statements suggesting more content is on the way. The game appears to be content-complete.
Evidence
Version 1.2.0 fully overhauled the game's UI across menus, inventory, and combat screens.
The only DLC ever listed — a Soundtrack + Concept Art pack — released the day after launch. No additional DLC has been announced or listed.
