Nerd Survivors launched on February 12, 2024 and received a flurry of updates in its first two months: a first major update on February 16, 2024, a second large content drop on February 23, 2024, a third on March 15, 2024, and several feature patches and bug fixes through April 2024. The April 24, 2024 post announced that online co-op was being developed — however, there is no evidence this feature ever shipped, and the studio's subsequent closure post makes clear it did not. On May 20, 2025, Heartbit Interactive published a formal studio closure announcement, confirming they are shutting down due to economic reasons. They explicitly stated that no new games will be developed and no new content will be created. They did note that existing games will remain available on stores and that they will continue to answer player questions as long as possible — but the context makes clear that active game development has ended permanently. The last meaningful content update for Nerd Survivors was the March 15, 2024 major update. Given the studio's confirmed closure as of May 20, 2025, the game is complete with no further content coming. The completion date is set to the last major content release (March 15, 2024), as that represents the final substantive content the game received before development ended.
