Evaluation

On Rusty Trails launched on June 13, 2016 as a complete platformer adventure. Its only DLC — a digital comic — was released on the same day as the game itself, so it was never post-launch content in a meaningful sense. Following launch, the developer shipped several updates through 2017: v1.1 (December 17, 2016) added leaderboard and quality-of-life features, v1.2.0 (June 1, 2017) added Chinese and German localizations along with performance improvements, and v1.3.0 (December 8, 2017) added file compression, faster loading, and improved controller mapping. A bug fix patch arrived in July 2017 as well. The December 2017 update was the last substantive content work on the game. In May 2020, the studio posted to the game's news feed to announce a new puzzle game they had released — essentially a "thanks for playing, check out our next project" message — which signals the team had moved on. In June 2022, the developer verified that the game runs well on Steam Deck, indicating they still check on the game occasionally for compatibility, but no new content has been added or announced. The game was clearly shipped as a finished product, received several post-launch polish updates through late 2017, and the developer has since moved on to new projects with no indication of further content for On Rusty Trails.
Evidence
Developer posted to the On Rusty Trails news feed to announce a new game (About Love, Hate & the Other Ones 2), thanking players and encouraging them to check out the new title — a clear signal the studio had moved on to new projects.
