Operation Octo launched on September 10, 2025 and has been actively receiving content updates from its solo developer throughout its first year. At launch, the developer outlined plans for new gadgets, new turrets, a Level Editor with Steam Workshop, and additional biomes (starting with Volcanic Ridge) delivered as free updates.
The game has seen a consistent stream of updates: a major content drop on October 26, 2025 added the Frogfish gadget; December 23, 2025 brought the Everywhere Eel turret; February 20, 2026 introduced Speedrun Mode with Steam Leaderboards; March 9, 2026 added the Axe-o-lotl gadget; and April 2026 saw additional patches and balance work.
On September 10, 2026 — the game's one-year anniversary — the developer launched the 2.0 Major Update, introducing a full Level Editor and Steam Workshop support, completing that previously announced commitment. Crucially, the 2.0 update post also teased "OO Anniversary Part 2" arriving the following week, which will include early access to the Volcanic Ridge biome's "Whale Artillery" turret. Dr. Odin, an octopus scientist, has teamed up with his Dolphin colleague to put a stop to underwater skeletons’ reign of terror!
In this action Tower Defense game, you fend off hordes of skeletons by strategically placing sea creature turrets. Beware that as your line of defense falls, this quickly turns into a game of survival where you dodge around for dear life!
The game currently has 7-9 hours of playtime across 3 unique biomes, with more biomes to be added via free updates!

- Unlock Turrets: Your arsenal is filled with mechanized sea lives! Those cool inventions (such as Pistol Shrimp, Navy Seal, and Death Ray) will handle the fight. You’ll discover new turret types one after another - Figure out how best to utilize each of ‘em!
