Ostrich Island launched on January 8, 2015 and received a steady stream of updates through its early years. The developer shipped meaningful content additions including a new island and pet companions (March 2015), visual overhauls (April and October 2015), a complete visual refresh and multiplayer fixes (June 2016), and a Level Editor (December 2016). A bug-fix patch in April 2017 was the last purely technical update. The most recent developer communication of any kind was a seasonal Halloween event announcement on October 24, 2019, running through November 1, 2019. Since that date — now over six and a half years ago as of June 2026 — there have been no developer posts, patches, announcements, or communications of any kind. The developer explicitly noted resource constraints as early as April 2016, stating they did not "have enough resources to work on Ostrich Island as much as we want." No future content has been announced, no unreleased DLC exists on the store, and the update pattern stopped entirely after 2019. The game appears to have been a finished product since its last seasonal content event concluded in November 2019.

The game is the unique adventure/exploration/RPG mix where you are playing as an Ostrich! Walk into tropical paradise, rush through storm madness, explore the deepness of the ocean and behold the darkness of underground.
Each island contains many secret achievements, collectibles and bonuses needed to be discovered! Wear hats, find the photo camera and take photos, catch butterflies, kick all the stuff around you, discover secret islands alone or with your friend and much, much more. Did we mention chicken companions which you can breed and feed? Shhhh..., it's a secret.
