Our Secret Below

Our Secret Below is a self-contained escape room thriller developed by solo developer Brian Clarke, released on July 10, 2020. The game shipped as a complete narrative experience with multiple endings built into the base product. After launch, the developer returned periodically to polish the experience — adding controller support in August 2020, smoothing out the multiple-endings flow in March 2021, and then returning again in January 2023 (following the release of his next major project, The Mortuary Assistant) to deliver a final round of improvements: better guidance for all three endings, key binding support, and Steam Deck compatibility. The January 2023 update (v1.4.7) is framed explicitly as a "circle back" visit — the developer wrapped up The Mortuary Assistant and wanted to give Our Secret Below some final love. The language used ("I simply want players to be able to experience the full story") reads as a closing gesture, not a signal of ongoing development. There is no roadmap, no announced DLC, no unreleased content on the store, and no post-2023 communication about the game. The developer has since moved on to other projects. The game launched as a finished product and has received only quality-of-life and accessibility improvements since. The last meaningful developer communication specific to this game was on January 16, 2023, which served as a capstone update rather than the beginning of a new development phase.
