Pact with a witch

Pact with a Witch is a free-to-play adult visual novel that has been in Early Access since June 25, 2019. The store description explicitly states the game is "70% finished," and the developer has consistently described substantial remaining content across years of posts — including unillustrated scenes, unfinished routes, minigames, and a sixth day of content. The game received annual major content updates at Christmas: December 2020 (v0.14.06), December 2021 (v0.17.00), and December 2022 (v0.19.0). After the 2022 update, development on this game stalled as the developer shifted focus to other projects — primarily a smaller prequel called Secret Glory Hole and a separate visual novel. A brief patch in July 2025 (v0.21.06) was issued primarily to censor content that Steam had flagged for removal, not to advance the story. In December 2025, the developer posted a detailed update confirming they planned to return to Pact with a Witch in 2026 after completing Secret Glory Hole. They were candid about the challenges: the game has over 500,000 words of content and remains unfinished, while Secret Glory Hole (a much smaller 26,000-word project) took two years to complete. They also noted that Steam's changing content rules may prevent further Steam updates until the game is completely done, with next planned communication targeted for December 2026. On September 27, 2026, the developer posted a new content update for the game — a positive sign that work has indeed resumed as promised. However, the developer's own December 2025 statements about the scale of remaining work, the uncertain timeline, and potential Steam publishing constraints mean that completion remains far off and unpredictable. The game's long and troubled development history, combined with the developer's own expressed doubts about finishing in 2026, keeps the outlook uncertain despite this recent activity.
