Evaluation

Phoenix Hope is an Early Access colony-defense strategy game that launched on December 14, 2021. The developer, Honorable Pixel, shipped one major update (Update 0.2 on July 24, 2022) followed by smaller feature and bug-fix patches through late 2022. In September 2022, the developer announced a substantial Update 0.3 called "The Hero," introducing direct hero control, new encounters, quests, and significant new systems. Progress posts in December 2022 and August 2023 showed the update was still in development. On October 31, 2023, the developer announced a delay from October to November 2023, citing the need for more testing and polish. That October 31, 2023 post is the last communication from the developer. There has been no confirmation that Update 0.3 ever shipped, no patch notes, and no further developer posts of any kind since that date. As of June 23, 2026, the developer has been completely silent for over two and a half years. The promised November 2023 release window has long passed with no update or explanation. The game's store page still carries an Early Access designation, and the developer's own roadmap referenced additional villages and content planned beyond Update 0.3. This combination — an announced and overdue major update, a promised release date that has passed, and total developer silence since October 31, 2023 — makes the current development status genuinely uncertain.
Evidence
Developer postpones Update 0.3 from October to November 2023, citing need for more testing. This is the last official communication from the developer.

About this game

Your lands were burned to the ground... Unknown, terrifying creatures poured out of portals that opened across the land, destroying everything in their path. The people were shattered, divided, but not devoid of hope! Stand at the head of a nation of Phoenix - a new State of people. Your goal is to restore humanity, rebuild settlements, protect them from night demon raids, get mythical underground crystals, and destroy the uninvited enemy forever!

Phoenix Hope is a 2D real-time, side-view strategy game in which you must develop your colony during the day and repel waves of monsters at night.

Key Features:
  • Indirect control of people - You give orders and control the gathering points of the warrior squads, and the citizens of your settlement go to work or defend themselves.
  • Hope zone - The defense of your village depends on a special zone in which enemy portals cannot appear. This zone changes dynamically depending on the level of hope of your settlers.
  • Resources management - You have a large number of different resources and tools at your disposal, which you must produce and distribute according to your needs.
  • Scientists Tower - Use the souls of defeated demons to unlock new upgrades for your settlement and warriors.
  • Global map - Send your men on expeditions outside your village to find resources, new people, and enhancements for the crystal that give buffs to your settlement.
  • Detailed, lovingly drawn pixel 2D graphics.
