Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage launched into Steam Early Access on December 3, 2025. Shortly after launch, the developer published a detailed open letter on December 12, 2025 outlining ambitious plans for 2026: additional heroes, classes, companions, new regions, and a Chapter II expansion — explicitly framing the game as having a long development runway ahead, comparable to how Pirates Outlaws 1 grew from limited launch content to a much larger game over time. On May 15, 2026, the developer posted a major transparency update announcing a sweeping core gameplay rework (the "Reforge"), acknowledging that some mechanics had drifted from what players enjoyed in the original game. All previously planned content — including Chapter II and the international mobile release — was postponed until the rework reached a stable state. On July 23, 2026, a public beta test of the Reforge was announced, and it went live on July 30, 2026. The Reforge Beta brought 80+ new cards, 20+ new relics, a new hero (Donato), a new companion (Crab), a reworked shield system, a revamped map structure, expanded Arena difficulties, and numerous other additions. Bug fix patches continued through August 11, 2026, showing the team actively refining the beta. On September 23, 2026 — the most recent developer communication — the team confirmed that the Reforge update will be promoted to the main branch soon, and that Region 2 (the "Lowlands/Northern Lands") is nearly complete and entering internal testing. This post previews new enemy types (Cursed Humans, Tortugans, Shrooms, Abominations), new heroes (Yasmina and Nameless), new classes for existing characters (Gabi and Hector as Cursed and Alchemist classes), and new region-specific cards and relics. The developer explicitly states "this extension is still just the beginning, and more is planned to be added." The game is in active Early Access development with multiple concrete pieces of content confirmed as in-progress or imminent, and the broader roadmap extending well beyond what has shipped so far.

In Pirates Outlaws' seaquel, a new era of piracy begins in New Elysia. The knowledge of inventors and alchemists shapes both the universe of the game and its game mechanics.

Heroes have unlockable classes, each with a unique appearance, attributes, and starting deck (including ability cards). A companion can also be selected, and their ability card added to your initial deck for more advanced strategies.

In Navigate mode, sail without limit from isle to isle to explore hidden islands, to collect cards and relics in the region. Defeat the 9 sea master’s bosses and legendary creatures.

In the Arena, you fight against strong fighters to challenge its Champion. To dominate and pass each stage, you must improve your deck, optimize your relics, and choose powerful effects: Runestones.

New combat system for improved gameplay experience. Mastery the Countdown assigned to end turn based on your hand cards. Manage enemies’ actions trigger whenever you Redraw or play cards.

Upgrade your deck with the new three-in-one card upgrade system. Collect 3 identical cards to choose between two evolution paths, refining your deck while boosting power.
