PixelJunk™ Shooter launched on Steam on November 11, 2013 as a port of the original game. On October 21, 2015, developer Double Eleven announced and released PixelJunk Shooter Ultimate — a combined edition merging Shooter 1 and 2 into a seamless story mode with overhauled graphics, UI, and additional Steam-specific features. This Ultimate release represented the definitive evolution of the game's content, folding everything from both titles together. There have been no developer communications since that announcement, and the base game's content has been static since. The game launched as a self-contained product with 15 stages, and the subsequent Ultimate release completed the content arc for the series on this platform. No further DLC, expansions, or updates have been announced.
