Evaluation

Ponchoman is a solo-developed indie roguelike shooter that launched on March 15, 2022. After release, the developer shipped a steady stream of feature updates: a graphic overhaul (May 31, 2022), an active item and inventory system (April 7, 2022), new weapon parts (June 15, 2022), creature AI improvements (November 25, 2022), more weapon parts (November 17, 2022), new creature types (February 9, 2023), a major optimization pass (June 12, 2023), a pathfinding bug fix (July 23, 2023), and finally a significant underbarrel weapons update on August 15, 2023. That August 2023 post is the last developer communication on record. In it, the developer openly noted they had limited time to work on the game and had an upcoming real estate licensing exam in October 2023, warning that another "no-update season" was likely coming. The developer's pattern throughout the game's life has been tied directly to personal availability — updates paused during the first licensing exam period (late 2022) and resumed afterward. There have been no developer posts of any kind since August 15, 2023 — nearly three years of silence. The developer mentioned additional weapon parts were planned but explicitly chose to ship what was ready rather than wait. No formal announcement of future content, no roadmap, and no unreleased DLC exist on the store. The game has no DLC listings at all. Given the developer's acknowledged personal time constraints, the explicit framing of the August 2023 update as shipping "what I implemented right away" rather than a planned milestone, and nearly three years without any follow-up, the game appears to have reached a natural stopping point. The developer did not formally announce completion, but the evidence strongly suggests this small indie title has concluded its active update cycle as of August 15, 2023.

About this game

Ponchoman is roguelike(maybe not) top down(also maybe not) shooter hack and slash game.

In a world where everything you see is fading away, the ponchoman you'll control

have to shoot and kill the creatures and survive.

But don't worry.

The more you kill creatures, make rifle more powerful.

And before you know it, you're gonna find yourself doing the pleasure of slaughter, not the stupid struggling of survival.

There's no goal for this game.

You just have to kill one more creature than before.

Praying doesn't help at all.
