POPULATION: ONE is no longer available for purchase on Steam. As of December 19, 2025, BigBox VR announced that new purchases of the game on Steam (and Meta PCVR) would be paused, citing the need to protect the community from unfair play. Existing players on PCVR were told they could continue playing, and Meta Quest users were told their store experience would be unaffected. The Steam listing currently has no purchase options available, confirming the game cannot be acquired through this storefront. Despite the delisting, the game had been receiving active updates right up to that point — the July 2, 2025 changelog introduced a seasonal summer event with limited-time modes and new cosmetic rewards, and regular feature patches had shipped throughout 2024 and into 2025. The game's live-service structure (rotating seasonal events, monthly rewards, cosmetic systems) was clearly operating until the PCVR sale suspension took effect. However, since the game is no longer purchasable on Steam, no further content or development status can be meaningfully assessed for this platform.
