Prison Boss VR

Prison Boss VR launched on August 29, 2017 and received a handful of post-launch patches in its first few months, adding furniture, Oculus support, decorative posters, and gameplay rebalancing. After that early period, the game settled into a maintenance-only state for several years. The most recent update to Prison Boss VR itself was a bug-fix patch (version 1.9.2) on February 18, 2026, which fixed achievement tracking issues, updated controller layouts for modern headsets, and addressed crashes. Notably, the patch notes open with "Hello, it's the devs of that old prison game. Long time no crime!" — phrasing that frames the original game as a legacy product. The patch also added advertisements for the sequel (Prison Boss Prohibition) to the main menu, further signaling that the studio's active development focus has moved on. TREBUCHET has since announced and released Prison Boss Prohibition, a co-op sequel that launched on July 10, 2025 and has been receiving DLC and seasonal updates. The studio also announced and launched an entirely new game called Compass on May 28, 2026. All forward-looking developer communications reference these newer titles, not the original Prison Boss VR. There are no announced updates, DLC, or roadmap items for Prison Boss VR. The February 2026 patch appears to be a final maintenance pass to keep the game functional on modern hardware. The game launched as a complete single-player experience and has received no content additions since late 2017.
