Prison Life 2 launched on March 30, 2023 and received a solid run of updates throughout its first year: the Prison Editor with Workshop Support shipped on April 28, 2023, followed by the major Update 1.5 (Moving Train Escape, new prison floor, many items) on May 27, 2023, and then a networking overhaul and Mac/Linux platform support through early 2024. The developer was actively engaged from launch through January 1, 2024, releasing multiple feature patches and two substantial content updates.
However, the last developer communication of any kind was on January 1, 2024, when Mac OS and Linux support was added. Since then — a period stretching to June 2026 — there have been no patch notes, announcements, blog posts, or any other public updates from AO Games. The developer has not announced that development has concluded, but the extended silence well beyond the previously active update pattern means it is currently unclear whether the game is still being developed or has been quietly abandoned. No specific future content was announced before communication ceased.
