Evaluation

Project DeepWeb launched on April 15, 2020 and received several post-launch updates, including a major feature patch (ReduxOS 2.0, June 26, 2020) and various bug fixes through 2021. On April 15, 2025 — the game's 5th anniversary — NightCat Studios published an explicit statement calling it "The Final Update for Project DeepWeb." That update brought meaningful polish and new features (Linux support, Unity 6 upgrade, trading cards, artbook integration, re-edited endings) while clearly signaling the end of development on this title. The developer's energy has since shifted to a follow-up game: Project DeepWeb: Eternal Nightmare, a standalone spiritual successor announced in July 2025, with a release date confirmed for July 14, 2026 and a playable demo released during Steam Next Fest in June 2026. This successor is a separate product and does not represent additional content planned for the original Project DeepWeb. The original game's only DLC is the soundtrack, which released the day after launch and has long been available. No unreleased DLC exists. With the developer having explicitly named their April 2025 patch as the final update, Project DeepWeb is a complete, finished game.
Evidence
On the game's 5th anniversary, NightCat Studios released what they explicitly called 'The Final Update for Project DeepWeb,' including bug fixes, new features, Linux support, and artbook integration. This is a direct developer statement that development on the original game is complete.

About this game

The Deep Web. This place is beyond description — you have to see it for yourself. Something that did not pass filters of humanity. Everyone here can finally take off their masks and show themself. Friends or enemies, knowledge or ignorance, life and death — here, everyone can find exactly what he searches for.

Project DeepWeb is a deep web exploration simulator. Puzzles are on the surface but answers are deep inside. You’re going to discover hundreds of websites and dozens of puzzles, go through every Internet level — all to achieve your objective. And if you’re brave enough to dig a little deeper, you may see something that was supposed to stay hidden forever.

The world of the game is filled with stories and characters, personal tragedies and acts of ruthlessness. Don’t get friendly with anyone here, because you’re just a silent viewer and you’re here only to save your friend… and yourself.

Welcome to the Deep Web. It's showtime!
