SIMULACRA 2 launched on January 30, 2020 as a self-contained narrative horror game. The developer's post-launch communications on the SIMULACRA 2 store page have focused entirely on announcing other titles in the series — specifically Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins (March 19, 2021) and SIMULACRA 3 (October 25, 2022). Neither of these represents new content for SIMULACRA 2 itself. There are no DLC listings, no announced updates, no roadmaps, and no developer statements suggesting additional content was ever planned for SIMULACRA 2 after launch. The game appears to have shipped as a complete, standalone narrative experience. The studio has since moved on to developing and releasing subsequent titles, further supporting that SIMULACRA 2's content was complete at launch.

A young social media influencer's untimely – and unnatural – death is being ruled as an accident. But Detective Murilo suspects that something is amiss. He recruits your help in investigating the case, and hands you a crucial piece of evidence; the victim’s phone. Using your investigative skills, hacking abilities, and the victim's influencer network, it's up to you to piece together the victim’s past.
