Evaluation
Prospekt is a standalone Half-Life 2 fan expansion that launched on February 18, 2016. The developer (Richard, a solo/small-team indie creator operating as SCT) has posted updates periodically over the years, but the game has never followed a sustained pattern of major content releases — the news archive covering 50 posts yields only 1 major_content tag across the game's entire post-launch history.
After launch, the developer made several announcements about upcoming updates — most notably the "Black Forest Update" teased in February 2017 — and discussed sweeping overhaul ambitions including new maps, weapons, and game modes. However, these announcements were followed by repeated delays and setbacks: team members not delivering, the developer's health issues, and a pivot to working on a second game (Gunsmith). The Black Forest Update was never confirmed as shipped in any subsequent post.
By December 2018, the developer was recruiting team members to expand content, and in May 2020 dropped the price while stating they were "working on the game to expand it and improve it." That May 2020 post is the last developer communication on record. Since May 20, 2020 — over six years ago as of today's date — there have been no further announcements, patches, or updates from the developer.
The store description references a "Summer Sale" update with new levels and graphical improvements, and ends with "Much more to come soon!" — but this language appears to be from a historical update post that was repurposed as the store description, not a current commitment. Given the complete absence of developer communication since May 2020, and the lack of any announced or unreleased DLC on the store, the game has effectively been in a state of no active development for years. There is no outstanding DLC, no roadmap, and no recent developer statement indicating future content. The game launched as a complete (if modest) single-player experience, and while the developer expressed ongoing ambitions for years, those plans never materialized into a sustained update cadence. The game is best treated as complete in its current form.
Evidence
Developer dropped the price and stated they were working to expand and improve the game. This is the last known communication from the developer.
Developer announced intent to expand the team to produce more content for the Half-Life universe, staying on the Source engine after discussions with Valve.
