Evaluation

Psycho Patrol R launched into Early Access on March 23, 2025. The developer (a solo developer, Ville Kallio of Consumer Softproducts) has been actively building out the game since launch, with a consistent stream of feature patches, progress updates, and a major content update released on May 9, 2026 (EA2 / Chapter 2, Act 2). The developer has been transparent throughout about what remains to be done. The May 9, 2026 update notes openly that several systems are still works-in-progress — including the weapon upgrade system (ammo unlocks at +5/+10 not yet implemented), the bandage/bleeding mechanic, the command-line interface, mech parts not yet placed in the game, and multiple areas still missing collision or other polish. The developer also stated their next focus will be returning to earlier parts of the game that still need fleshing out before moving forward with the main quest again. Earlier posts (August 2025 and September 2025) outlined a large set of goals for the Chapter 2 update, many of which shipped in May 2026 but with acknowledged rough edges. A March 2026 progress update noted the developer had come through a multi-month burnout period but was back to steady progress. The developer has communicated no timeline for a 1.0 release and has not suggested the game is nearing completion. This is an actively developed Early Access title with substantial content and systems still in development.
Evidence
Major EA2 update released (Chapter 2, Act 2) with 5 new areas, new case, new weapons, and numerous new systems — but developer explicitly notes many features are still works-in-progress (weapon upgrade ammo tiers, bandage mechanic, sideways elevator collision, null item crash, etc.). Developer states next focus will be fleshing out earlier levels before progressing the main quest further.

About this game

Psycho Patrol R is a mecha FPS hybrid policing and punishment simulator set in the decaying state of Pan-Europa. You play as an officer of the European Federal Police, a V-Stalker pilot of Psycho Patrol, a special unit tasked with counter-psychohazard operations and neural meltdown prevention using cutting edge criminological frameworks. The battleground of the 21st century is the human brain, the base unit of the hyperconjoined egregore Twin Terra. The soul of the planet is on the verge of collapse. Your chances are 0.001%.

The gameplay is a mix of free exploration based detective mystery with RPG elements, high intensity tactical FPS combat, combined seamlessly with operating your V-Stalker mecha unit to decimate your enemies. The world is open with a variety of different goals to achieve. The boundless blue skies signal endless opportunity.

  • Different weapons, from small arms to 120mm tank guns and DNA sniffers.

  • Customize your V-Stalker for a massive tactical advantage.

  • Choose from a wide variety of routes and approaches.

  • Open, non-linear world. Every quest is a side quest.

  • Unique NPCs to meet and interact with.

  • Solve the mystery of the Orgone.
