Railbound launched on September 6, 2022 as a complete puzzle game with 8 worlds. Afterburn followed up with two free content updates: the Semaphore Update on February 3, 2023 (adding Worlds 9 and 10, 30+ new puzzles), and the Birthday Update on September 6, 2023 (adding Worlds 11 and 12, ~40 new puzzles with a new dual-locomotive mechanic). These were the last additions to the main puzzle content. In March 2025, Afterburn announced a long-requested level editor feature, releasing it as an open beta on May 29, 2025. On September 5, 2025, the level editor exited beta and launched fully as v4.00, bringing Steam Workshop support, full localization, and new Workshop-exclusive decoration assets. Subsequent patches (October and November 2025) addressed a security vulnerability and a minor display bug. There are no unreleased DLC, no announced future content, and no developer statement indicating further development is planned. The short description on the store now notes the game comes "with a level editor," reflecting its completed state. The sustained update history has concluded with the Workshop update, and developer communication has tapered to maintenance-only patches since September 2025.

Connect and sever railways across the world to help everyone reach their homes and solve over 240 clever puzzles ranging from gentle slopes to twisted passageways.
