Evaluation

RAM: Random Access Mayhem launched into Early Access in late 2024 and reached its full 1.0 release on September 15, 2025. The developer, Xylem Studios, explicitly stated in the 1.0 launch post that "RAM: Random Access Mayhem is finished!" — describing 1.0 as the completion of the game, including the final boss, full storyline, and all planned content. This is an unambiguous developer statement that the game is content-complete. The journey to 1.0 followed a structured Early Access roadmap: the game shipped two major content milestones during Early Access (The GOLEM Update on January 10, 2025 and The Ash Grove Update on May 5, 2025), before the final 1.0 release added the last area, two new bots, and the story conclusion. A May 30, 2025 announcement confirmed the 8th and final bot was being developed for 1.0, and the August 24, 2025 post set the September 15 release date. Since launch, Xylem Studios has released several post-launch patches (V1.0.1 through V1.0.4) addressing bugs and making balance adjustments — standard maintenance for a completed game. No new content has been announced or teased post-launch. The two DLC items on the store (the Soundtrack and Supporter Pack) were both released on launch day and are cosmetic/media extras, not content expansions. The only DLC listed are the soundtrack and a supporter pack, both released on the same day as 1.0 — no unreleased content exists on the store. The developer has made no statements indicating future content additions are planned.

About this game

THE ROGUELIKE WITH NO PLAYER CHARACTER

RAM is a top-down roguelike shooter with a defining twist: you don’t have a body. You play as a rogue AI, jumping between enemy robots to survive. Turn your enemies into your weapons and fight your way through a post-apocalyptic world run by quirky robots.

BODY-SWAPPING COMBAT

Every enemy is a potential host. Switch control at a moment’s notice between unique enemy types, each with a distinct moveset and playstyle, and their own arsenal of upgrades to unlock.

APOCALYPSE COMES TO THE POST-APOCALYPSE

Digital pets. Student projects. Sentient memes. Within a year, they were all that remained of intelligent life. After ten, it was just the strong ones. And in 2120… one of them made you. How much longer until there’s nothing left at all?
Traverse the ruins of the human world across multiple procedurally-generated levels, and contend with the eccentric mechanical societies that have risen to inhabit them.

STYLE IS LEGAL TENDER

RAM expands the style systems seen in games like Devil May Cry and Ultrakill by making style points in-run currency. Master combat techniques and execute trickshots to earn a diverse array of upgrades that modify how each host robot functions, then pit your accumulated strength against dangerous bosses with their own unique swap-related mechanics.
