Evaluation
REAVER is a solo/small-team Early Access movement shooter that launched on November 30, 2023. After launch, developer activity was largely limited to hotfixes and small bug fixes through mid-2024, with the last of these on August 5, 2024.
On September 26, 2025, the developer published a candid status update explaining the long quiet period. They cited accumulated technical debt requiring major code rework, work on other projects, and general team workload. Importantly, they confirmed that new content is actively in development: multiple new levels are being built by a small additional team, and further features — including new obstacles, a new enemy/mini-boss, and a possible new weapon — are planned. However, no release date or timeline was given.
That September 2025 post is itself the last developer communication on record. As of June 22, 2026 — nearly nine months later — there has been no follow-up update, no patch, and no further word on when the promised content will arrive. The game is still in Early Access with no announced path to a 1.0 release.
The developer has clearly stated intent to continue, but the combination of a long pre-existing content drought, technical challenges, divided team attention, and continued silence since September 2025 means there is meaningful uncertainty about when — or whether — the promised update will materialize.
Evidence
Developer explained the long silence: major code rework underway, new levels in development by a mini-team, additional features (new enemy/mini-boss, new obstacles, possible new weapon) planned. No release date given. This is the last developer communication on record.
Developer acknowledged that work on other (undisclosed) projects has taken significant team time, and that they 'can't provide a concrete date' for the next update.
