Evaluation

Recharge entered Steam Early Access on July 28, 2025, where it remains today. The developer, Room Games, has maintained consistent activity since launch: a wave of bug fix and feature patches followed launch in late July and August 2025, a new Crawling mode beta was introduced on August 29, 2025, and the game was featured at Tokyo Game Show 2025 in September 2025, accompanied by a free Tokyo map update and the release of the Tokyo Car Pack DLC on September 25, 2025. The most recent developer post on record (May 8, 2026) is actually about a different game from the same developer ("Fine Dying"), not Recharge itself, so it does not count as a Recharge update. The last Recharge-specific communication was the Tokyo Game Show content drop in September 2025. The game has shipped two major content updates since Early Access launch (the Crawling mode feature patch and the Tokyo map/car pack), demonstrating active development. No 1.0 release date has been announced, and the developer has not communicated that development is winding down. The game is in Early Access by design, signaling it is explicitly unfinished and continuing to evolve.
