Reus launched on May 16, 2013 and received several years of post-launch updates: a content patch in August 2015 adding new animals and plants, a platform and performance update in May 2017, and a final feature patch in May 2018 that added an "Unlock All" option alongside bug fixes. The only DLC ever released — the official soundtrack — shipped on May 17, 2018, coinciding with that last meaningful update. No further content updates have been released for Reus since that date. The store description itself notes "Reus is a 10 year old game and may have compatibility issues with some hardware," which signals that the developer considers it a legacy product. Developer communications since 2018 have been entirely focused on Reus 2, which launched on May 28, 2024. The May 2025 anniversary post confirmed Reus has surpassed one million players and discussed Reus 2's trajectory, but contained no mention of any new content for the original game. All content for Reus was complete as of May 17, 2018 when the soundtrack DLC shipped alongside the final patch.
