Evaluation

Rhythia entered Steam Early Access on February 20, 2026, and the developer has maintained an exceptionally active development pace since launch — shipping major updates roughly every 4-6 weeks. Major features delivered since the February 2026 launch include: osu! map import support (February 27, 2026), the Multiplayer Update with lobby and friend invite systems (March 24, 2026), replay analysis tools (March 15, 2026), an Online Lobby Browser and experimental Note Builder (April 30, 2026), native MacOS support (April 22, 2026), an in-game Map Editor (June 1, 2026), and full VR support (August 14, 2026). The developer noted in the April MacOS post that they have "updated the game every single week since release." Despite this delivery pace, key announced content remains unshipped. A Story Mode — consisting of 5 named boss characters with 3 songs each — was announced in January 2026 as a planned feature. As of the most recent posts, this has not been delivered. The developer also referenced Versus and other modes as goals still ahead. The game remains explicitly in Early Access and has not announced a 1.0 release date. An October 2025 post addressed a community dispute, clarifying that the development team retains full ownership of the platform and game, and explicitly stated "The development continues." No studio distress signals have followed that post; the subsequent months have seen sustained, frequent updates confirming the team remains active.

About this game

Rhythia on Steam, compared to other open source alternatives and implementations, is a completely new and refreshed client that aims to bring online and community features. The goal is to develop and improve on the familiar gameplay concept. More information and links are available on the Rhythia portal.

Rhythia is a game in which you aim and hit musical beats with precision. You will be targeting blocks, mastering timing, building combos, perfecting your accuracy and climbing leaderboards.

In the beginning you will find yourself learning the 3x3 grid layout, aiming at individual blocks and building basic combos by hand, but in short time you can become a rhythm master, with flawless accuracy, perfect timing and seamless aim transitions, all for those satisfying perfect scores. This intense focus on precision and timing rewards dedicated practice, so you will need to develop your aim and musical reflexes to achieve mastery.

Rhythia offers players unlimited customization of the game - to the smallest detail of gameplay, game interface and elements. It comes bundled with existing shapes, models and presets for you to choose from, and build your own experience.
