Riff XR

Riff XR is a VR MMORPG in Early Access that has been receiving a steady stream of major content additions since its July 2023 launch. The developer has shipped at least 11 major content updates across that period, covering new professions (Holy Healer in September 2024, Archer in October 2024, Artisan in June 2025), new zones and maps (Ironhelm Rift and Dwarven Keep, Shroudvale, Colbo, and Garrison Glade in March 2025), new boss encounters (Drakfang mini-boss in March 2025, Rezaris the Ashwing dragon quest in July 2025), and a complete overhaul of the mission system (December 2024) with daily, weekly, and freelance mission terminals added in March 2025. In January 2025, the team completed a full migration to Unreal Engine 5.5, describing it as the foundation for "exciting times ahead," and followed up with a further engine upgrade to UE 5.5.4 in March 2025. The most recent major update was published on July 8, 2025 — approximately 15 months before today's date of October 1, 2026. While this is longer than the previous 1–3 month cadence, the game is still in Early Access with no developer statement suggesting development has concluded. Given the historically rapid update pace and the Early Access status, the silence since July 2025 is notable but does not yet cross into clear abandonment territory — the developer has not communicated anything about ending development. The game continues to be purchasable and marked as Early Access.
